The use of plastic boxes

All the coastal fishing sector will be equipped soon with plastic boxes. A fish containers standardization program was launched by the Ministry of Maritime Fisheries and implemented by the National Fisheries Office (ONP). The sector’s operators have ordered 824,000 plastic boxes out of the 1 million units scheduled earlier, i.e. 82.4% of the initial objective.
The fish containers standardization project seeks to replace wood boxes, deemed non compliant with hygiene standards, by plastic ones which are healthier.
Boxes production is carried out by three local manufacturers, namely « Dimaplast », « Le plastic » and « Ifriquia Plastique », all three of them are required to comply with technical manufacturing criteria : type of materials, physical sizes and boxes resistance.
