Sea Sciences and Technologies
The National Institute of Sea Sciences and Technologies organized with the assistance of the British Hull University on May 8th and 9th at the Amilcar Suburb a workshop on « Promotion of analysis techniques and Study of quality sea products ». This event sought to underline the positive results registered in this field and the role of international cooperation in promoting scientific research in Tunisia. The said results which were the focus of this encounter dealt with the identification of various fish species through the analysis of dry canned fish and the use of new analysis methods of quality of sea products, as well as the follow up and processing of this type of products and its live storage.
The workshop featured several scientific presentations, most of which in English, presented by Tunisian and British speakers. The papers dealt with the processing of various fish species, especially bluefish, their conservation and packaging in order to prevent the growth of bacteria and alteration, the aim being to promote consumption and enrich food within the frame of a sustainable exploitation of sea resources.
