Dr. Ali Mohammed Mugawar, Minister of Fisheries, and Mr. Mohammed Saleh Shamlan, Governor of Al-Hodeidah, inaugurated the $1.2 million-Al-Jawda Fish Factory .

Khaled Humaid, manager of the new factory, said it is equipped with all the equipment that will enable it to receive, prepare, freeze, store and transport fish according to European quality standards, which guarantee customers the highest quality possible. He added the factory will process 20 tons a day, or about 7,200 tons a year, and that figure is can be increased. A total of 123 people are working at the new factory.
The YR 8 million-Fisheries Office in Al-Hodeidah was simultaneously opened during the same week. According to the Minister of Fisheries, the office will work to resolve all the problems that fishermen and fishing companies face. It will also facilitate opportunities for investment in and import and export of Yemeni fish.
