The Prime Minister, Mr. Driss Jettou, had meeting with the Senegalese Minister of fisheries, Mr. Papa Diouf, in which they had talks on the means to promote the bilateral cooperation in the field of fishing.
During this meeting, the two parties congratulated themselves on the excellent relations of friendship binding the two countries, emphasizing particularly the fishing sector where the two countries maintain a fruitful partnership in the fields of training, scientific research and in operations of surveillance and control of halieutic resources by the GPS system.
The two Ministers also underlined the necessity of strengthening exchanges between the private sectors of the two countries, particularly in the field of fishing, through the exchange of businessmen's visits in order to put in contribution the complementarity between the economies of two countries and to highlight the multiple opportunities of cooperation that offers the sector of the fishing.
The Conversations also concerned other sectors of the bilateral cooperation, notably, in the field of training, education, the agriculture and the technical aid.
In a statement to the MAP agency at the conclusion of this meeting, Mr. Diouf underlined the will of Morocco and Senegal to promote investments in the sector of fishing and to set up processing industries to favour the creation of an added value and jobs in both countries.
Mr Diouf declared that he, actually, participates, with his Moroccan counterpart, Mr. Tayeb Rhafès, in the works of the second session of the senegalo-Moroccan mixed committee dedicated to the examination of the various aspects of the cooperation in the field of fishing.
On the other hand, the Senegalese Minister indicated, , that fishing constitutes the first sector of export in Senegal, clarifying that this branch of activity produces 500.000 tons of fishes per year, which near the third is intended for the export.
Were also present in this meeting, the Minister of the maritime fisheries, Mr. Tayeb Rhafès and the ambassador of Senegal in Rabat, Mr. Ibou Ndiaye.
