Morocco and the European Union have agreed to renew their fishing partnership, in force since March 2007, for four years, the Moroccan ministry of fisheries said in a statement.
The two sides also signed, on February 25, 2011 in Rabat, the new fishing protocol linked to the agreement, it said.
The fishing agreement sets out, among other things, the principles, rules and procedures governing economic, financial, technical and scientific cooperation, the conditions of access of the EU’s ships to Moroccan fishing areas, and partnerships between companies.
The renewal reflects the two sides’ keenness to have a cooperation framework in the field building on shared goals to preserve resources and ensure sutainability of their exploitation.
The fishing agreement and the protocol were renewed under the same conditions which expired on February 27, 2011.
