Algeria-Spain Fishing cooperation and aquaculture A meeting of the joint Algerian-Spanish Committee was recently held in Madrid. This meeting focussed on the evaluation of fish stocks and on the building of a marine aquaculture farm in the National Center for Algerian Fisheries and Development of Aquaculture in Bousmail. This pilot farm will facilitate the production, demonstration and popularization of farming techniques related to the sea bream and bass. The setting up of a laboratory for the control, quality and health condition of the product in Algiers’ port was in the agenda. A campaign for the evaluation of pelagic stocks will be carried out by a Spanish oceanographic boat and a team of Algerian experts will take part in this work.
