Algeria : The coral According to the Ministry of Fishing, The coral still prohibited till 2015 The Minister of fishing and halieutic Resources, Mr. Smail Mimoune has reiterated the undertaken measures by his department to prohibit coral fishing. The Minister has pointed out that the executive decree signed since October 2000 is the emanation of a scientific study responding to ecological imperatives. Retracing back the management of this resource, notably since the year 1997 where many decrees and rulings were promulgated, going through the decree 95-323 and, which article 70 stipulates the non exploitation of coral more than five years in order to reproduce, the decree of prohibition occurred in 2000 should thus prohibit it over a period of 15 years, be until 2015. Concerning the redeployment of operators in other specialities, the minister has ensured that some arrangement were undertaken to this purpose, and that the majority of them were helped to get over the hurdle of such prohibition.
