Oman: HACCP compliance certificate granted to 24 firms The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in Oman have stipulated that fishing processing companies operating in the country having plans to export their fish produce to foreign countries such as the US, the European Union (EU) and Japan, have to comply with the stipulations of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system... The HACCP system conforms to the directives of the EU with regard to food law in the region and obtaining certification for compliance to the system is mandatory for exports to the markets in the European Union. As many as 24 fish processing companies based in Oman have obtained HACCP compliant certificates from the Fisheries Ministry. It has been stated that another 29 fish processing units based in the country are at various stages of implementing stipulated norms for obtaining certification for HACCP compliance from the concerned authorities. |
