Kuwait:prohibits fishing Pomfret KUWAIT, May 28, 2009. Kuwait's Public Authority for Agriculture affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) said on Thursday it would ban fishing Pomfret in the territorial waters of the State of Kuwait between June 1st-July 15 2009. It said in a press release that it would prohibit the circulation and marketing of local Pomfret, and would also prevent ships and boats from fishing Pomfret. However, the import and marketing of frozen Pomfret would not be banned provided that permission be required from the authority, it added. The fisheries sector and the Authority in collaboration with the Directorate General of Coast Guard at the Interior Ministry will monitor the implementation of this ban, it said. Anyone found guilty for breaking the ban will be punished according to law, it warned. The ban is mainly aimed to protect fish stocks in the territorial waters of the State of Kuwait, it said.
