EU countries reject ban on trade of bluefin tuna

EU member states on September 21st failed to find a majority status to support proposals aimed at temporarily banning international trade of Atlantic bluefin tuna in order to preserve the species. «In the time EU governments were called to take position on the matter, they failed to find a supporting consensus », highlighted the Commission in a press release. At the same time, the Commission has expressed its concern regarding the declining fish stocks especially after decades of over fishing.
