Morocco: FAO gold medal to the Aquacultural Center of M’diq Food and agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, has awarded a gold medal to the Aquaculture Center of M’diq, related to the National Institute of Halieutic Research ( INRH), for contributing to the development of research, diversity of farming and the aquacultural production. This prize was remitted in the center during a ceremony organised recently in Kenitra, commemorating the birthday of the FAO. It was remitted by the Ambassadress of the republic of Niger to Mr. Hassan N’hala, a searcher in the INRH and managing chief of this center. During this ceremony, it was proceeded to the presentation of the research activities, notably those related to the artificial production and the larval farming of the two species of marines fishes. Within the framework of the moroccan-japaneese co-operation in the field of maritime fisheries,The aquacultural center of M’diq aims at setting up the infrastructures for the realisation of aquacultural trials and reproduction of different fish species in controlled environment. During the period 1992-2000, the center has exerted its efforts on bluefin tuna permitting the enlargement control of this species. Since the year 2000, the trials were oriented on new species, notably the seabream and the dentex. The goal of this project is the technical and biological feasibility study and the alevins production of these two species. The reached results at both the growth and survival level as well as in the seabream and the dentex, are very encouraging (32 % for the seabream and 12% for the dentex) |
