Japan
According to a government report, “Japan’s food sufficiency ratio on a calorie basis has been continuously decreasing for a long time and the recent ratios have leveled off at 40%”. The Japanese government’s recent policy and efforts are to reverse this trend including increased fish farming activities in Japan. Recognizing the boom in Japanese restaurants worldwide which are estimated to be 24000, there will be efforts to increase exports of high quality agricultural products including fisheries. South Asia including China and North America would possibly be the main target markets.
