Changes afoot in the pelagic industry…
The rumours and rumblings of takeovers and mergers over the past few months were put to bed in June, with the announcement of significant changes in the structure of some of the world’s largest pelagic processing companies.
On 1st July, a merger was completed between Domstein, Global Fish, Bergen Fiskeindustri, Koralfisk and Bernt Hansen, to create Norway Pelagic. With a projected annual turnover of around NOK 3 billion, the new company is the largest producer of pelagic fish in the world.
